The blog title is exactly what it is, so lets get right into it... Kids Email is a website that allows kids to have their own SAFE email account and where we as parents are able to see what is being sent from the account and to the account.
I have been using Kids Email now for about a month and it was my first and only option. I have been very wary of what my kid is doing on the internet so this of course came to mind. He is only 5 years old but with the way technology is setup now the earlier they start and understand, the more opportunities that may come their way. He always notices me reading my "emails" and was curious as to what it is I am doing. He is now at the point where he is reading and always want to send an email to his grandparents in St. Lucia.
This is perfect for kids at all ages whether teenagers or younger, I think parental control is always necessary. Here is their mission:
"KidsEmail.org's mission is to protect children from predators, pornography, and email from strangers. With so much technology at the fingertips of our kids, it can difficult to know who is communicating with your child. Our goal is to give parents the tools to protect their children in a manner that is simple and effective."There are so many features that you can use to help control what your kid receives or sends such as who they can send to or receive from on their contact list, email a copy of outgoing or incoming messages to the parent and filtering out offensive words or images & many more. What a great idea. We have strict limits on our son's email, but still have to deal with some nonsense. This seems like it would work great!
ReplyDeleteIt is so simple and easy to use and still give the kids a sense of responsibility
DeleteSounds like great service. My younger two dont go online yet and my 14 yr had to give us passwords to go online
ReplyDeleteIt helps because you also see what they are getting and whats going out
DeleteThis is fantastic. It's so important to be aware of what your kids are doing online.
ReplyDeleteIt really is
DeleteMost people I know have had to fudge the facts to get their kids a Gmail account. This is a good alternative.
